Occupational Rehabilitation

We are a founder-led, privately owned company focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for injured people. See below for more information about our Occupational Rehabilitation services.

Same Employer Services

Rocket Rehab provides same employer rehabilitation services to injured persons with either physical and/or psychological conditions.

No one injury, illness, workplace or occupational demand is the same, so we provide specifically tailored return-to-work programs and services for each individual. What is the same is our flexible and sustainable approach to providing injury management services. An approach is designed to ensure individuals return to work efficiently, whilst rehabilitating in a safe and effective manner.

Getting ‘lost in the system’ is a common source of frustration in the wider industry. At Rocket Rehab, we lead all parties through the rehabilitation journey, with constant communication to the injured person, insurer and employer. Regular, honest and upfront communication on an individual’s progress is critical for all parties.

By actively encouraging both individuals and employers to take a proactive approach to the rehabilitation process, we enhance the rehabilitation experience while also helping to reduce costs.

New Employer Services

Rocket Rehab offers new employer rehabilitation services to injured persons with either physical and/or psychological conditions.

We recognise the importance of thoroughly assessing an individual's transferable skills, physical capabilities, and psychological well-being to achieve realistic and sustainable outcomes.

Our vocational rehabilitation services follow a structured and hands-on approach, ensuring the individual remains focused throughout the process. We assist in identifying, sourcing, and managing placements in new vocations of interest.

Additionally, we provide access to specialised Employment Placement Consultants for those needing additional job-seeking support. These Consultants develop customised and safe pathways to return to work, helping individuals secure and maintain suitable employment opportunities.

Early Intervention Services

Rocket Rehab offers a specialised Early Intervention service; our Immediate Medical Assessment (IMA) is a superior service like no other in the marketplace.

Following a pilot of the service with a Specialised Self Insurer in NSW, our product has become standard practice for many customers. These customers seek early assistance in managing individual injuries to establish clear expectations for all stakeholders.

A short, sharp assessment, empowering employers to independently manage claims is provided at the outset, with the purpose of providing a swift diagnosis, prognosis and return to work goal as well as the setting of clear expectations of rehabilitation goals and timeframes.

The IMA is a shorter service with lower costs than a standard assessment, with the benefits being:

  • Effective low-cost service, with a high reward

  • Reduction in claims cost

  • Minimising the risk of protracted claims, reducing time loss and expediting recovery

  • Setting clear, independent expectations whilst minimising duration

Assessments

Rocket Rehab offers an extensive suite of occupational rehabilitation assessments. These can be either stand-alone or integrated into our case management services as required.

Initial Needs Assessment:

This assessment is employed to gain a comprehensive understanding of an injured individual's circumstances, including the nature of their workplace injury or illness, their current symptoms, diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and return-to-work goals. Outcome tools may be utilised to pinpoint any psycho-social issues or risks associated with returning to work.

The insights gathered from this assessment aid in developing a customised plan to address rehabilitation needs and support a successful return to work.

Workplace Assessment:

These personalised assessments provide firsthand insight into the physical and cognitive demands of an injured person's job, playing a pivotal role in their successful return to work. They focus on understanding the specific work environment, job duties, and tasks both before and after the injury, as well as suitable duties provided by the employer.

Rocket Rehab's skilled Consultants assess the workplace and identify modifications or accommodations, such as equipment recommendations, to support the injured person during their rehabilitation.

Transparent communication with stakeholders during the assessment ensures the development of a tailored "return to work" plan, facilitating a gradual transition back into employment.

Functional Capacity Assessment:

This assessment evaluates an injured person's current functional and cognitive abilities using standardised and customised tasks in a safe environment.

Conducted by appropriately qualified assessors, it provides insights into the individual's capabilities and helps tailor treatment plans for their return to work.

This assessment proves particularly valuable when clear return-to-work medical guidelines are unavailable from the individual's allied health team or doctor.

Activities of Daily Living Assessment:

Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are essential skills for self-care. After an injury, individuals may struggle to perform these tasks independently and need assistance. Our experienced Occupational Therapists conduct assessments at home to identify areas needing support.

This may involve providing aids or equipment, making home modifications, arranging domestic assistance like cleaning or landscaping, or educating on modifications or self-pacing techniques.

Ergonomic Assessment:

The Ergonomic Assessment evaluates how an injured person interacts with their work environment, focusing on repetitive tasks, awkward positions, and prolonged postures. Our consultants assess various workplace settings, from office desks to heavy machinery cabs, and provide recommendations for task modifications and environmental adjustments to reduce injury risks and lower costs.

Additionally, any further recommendations, such as providing assistive equipment, are discussed and considered to enhance workplace safety. Rocket Rehab consultants ensure that ergonomic workstations meet Australian Standards and comply with relevant WHS legislation.

Vocational Assessment:

The Vocational Assessment helps individuals recovering from injuries pinpoint career rehabilitation objectives that align with their capabilities, skills, interests, past earnings, and the current job market landscape.

The vocational assessor evaluates an individual's capability to perform physical and/or psychological tasks along with their specific experience, training, and education to determine suitable job options. The assessment can vary from a brief vocational screening to a comprehensive evaluation and vocational counselling session.

Transferable Skills Assessment:

The Transferrable Skills Assessment evaluates the skills acquired by an injured person through work experience, which they can potentially offer to an employer during their job search. It is often utilised when the injured person is unsure about their employment options or skill set and needs help identifying the most straightforward path to return to work.

Medical Case Conferencing:

After completing one or more assessments we may schedule a medical case conference involving the injured individual, their treating doctor, and/or specialist.

The aim is to assist the injured person by giving their doctor or specialist a thorough understanding of their workplace environment, physical and cognitive requirements, and to facilitate discussions about their ability to return to work, even if suitable duties aren't currently available.

This conference serves as a collaborative platform to ensure everyone is aligned regarding the injured person's diagnosis, prognosis, treatment, and return-to-work goals.
